How to visit Lake Orta in Piedmont, Italy, from Milan

Yes, because here, in addition to being the best attractions for those who love history and culture, there are also numerous activities to do with the little ones. In short, disappointment will certainly not be around the corner, but rather pleasant surprises and love for what you will see will accompany your holiday on one of the most beautiful lakes of the Italian peninsula overlooking the village of Prta San Giulio.

HEADQUARTERS OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF ORTA SAM GIULIO: THE BEAUTY OF THE 17TH CENTURY CASA BOSSI

A little further on, the seventeenth-century Bossi house, now the Town Hall, with the entrance that opens onto a garden that ends at the lake. Further on rise the oratory of San Rocco (1631), several eighteenth-nineteenth-century residences (Casa Gippini, Casa Tosi, the Durio and Motta villas), via Bersani, full of medieval views.

FROM THE SQUARE TO THE ASCENT OF THE MOTTA

If you pass along the square then you cannot fail to continue towards La Salta della Motta. This is a particular point of Orta San Giulio which has on the right side the fifteenth-century house called dei Nani because above the wooden architrave there are four small windows, and almost opposite, another ancient residence of the sixteenth century; on the left, Palazzo De Fortis Penotti with its beautiful neoclassical facade and on the right Palazzo Gemelli, late Renaissance.

THE CHURCH OF SANTA MARIA ASSUNTA: NOT ONLY A PLACE OF WORSHIP

Continuing the walk on the village of Lake Orta, you will see that the final part of the hike is represented by the church of Santa Maria Assunta, built in 1485, whose current appearance reveals an eighteenth-century adaptation; the stone portal of Oria with capitals with floral motifs and figures of animals is wonderful. Walking along the walls of Palazzo Gemelli, you start along the slope that leads to the cemetery of San Quirico and then to the Sacro Monte.

CAPATINA IN SAN GIULIO ISLAND

After visiting Orta, it is a must to sail to the island that rises in the center of Lake Orta. The Island of San Giulio, located about 400 meters from the shore, shows the mainland its beauty, the basilica with its bell tower, the verdant gardens, the tiny and graceful huts.aziose.
