Singapore-Batam-Bintan ‘travel corridor’ meant for Singapore holidaymakers only: Indonesian minister

JAKARTA: Indonesia’s tourism minister Sandiaga Uno stated on Monday (Mar 22) that the proposed “safe travel corridor” amongst Singapore, Batam and Bintan is meant to bring in all those from the town state to vacation in Indonesia and not vice versa.

In a press conference, he explained: “We are not including Indonesian citizens likely to Singapore (via the safe journey corridor) mainly because we want individuals from Singapore to come to Indonesia.”

This arrived immediately after he reported about the weekend that preparations can start off for a “safe vacation corridor” between Singapore, Batam Nongsa and Bintan Lagoi. 

The Nongsa space in Batam and Lagoi region in Bintan are well-liked vacation resort destinations for Singaporeans. He also instructed that the vacation corridor can start on Apr 21.

Commenting on the proposed implementation particulars of the vacation corridor, he said on Monday that a few spots in Batam and two in Bintan can be frequented by holidaymakers safely amid the pandemic.

Mr Uno said that the parts will be sealed, but domestic visitors who have been vaccinated and demonstrate a unfavorable COVID-19 take a look at final result may well enter the premises.
